Constitutional Amendment Study
Date: Wednesday, September 16, 2015
Time: 11:30 am
Weber State University
Thanks to Dr. Leah Murray, we have planned an interesting and informative way to present and reach consensus on the National Constitutional Study. As this is Constitution Week at Weber State University, we have decided to incorporate students in our discussion on the different questions and readings for this study. Students will actively engage in the discussion questions relevant to our National Study, offer opinions, and ask questions right along with us. Members of the League will then meet and reach consensus after hearing what should be a lively meeting. A light lunch will be sponsored by the Weber League with the help of Marcia Harris and Sarah Lovato. All information including the discussion and consensus questions are available at http://forum.lwv.org/category/member-resources/our-work/constitutional-amendment-study. Please plan on attending - it should be an excellent learning experience for everybody.
Date: Saturday, September 19, 2015
Time: 11:00 am
Jaycee Park, Ogden, Utah
Our Annual Membership Meeting and Pot Luck is scheduled for September 19 at 11:00 a.m. The speaker will be Adrienne Andrews, Chief Diversity Officer at Weber State University. Adrienne has developed and chaired the Diversity Connection, which is made up of individuals from different ethnic, religious, gender, etc. She organized and met with about 20 different groups of people - the league was included in the women's group - and asked questions and sought input on how to improve diversity within our community. Once she had gathered all the information, she has been organizing meetings with representatives from each group to begin working on how to improve relations and cultural diversity in Ogden. She will explain the group, how it was developed, and what the hopes and objectives are. We will follow the presentation with a pot luck lunch, which is usually amazing! Everybody grab a dish and join us with family and friends to learn and become involved. This topic is very appropriate to our community with the diversity we have. See you there!
